To You

I write, with thoughts of you , young-man that I saw at the supermarket today. Most likely you didn’t notice me,but I saw you and my heart was moved. I saw that you were with a young lady that I thought was your sister and she was pushing her little girl in the cart. At one point she walked away and little girl was trying to stand up and she was much too little to do that and I was concerned that she was going to fall out. So I approached young mother to warn her. I noticed how well you were dressed.I noticed how quiet you were as your walked behind the cart. As we made our way around the store you again were in my path. I saw clean denim jeans, maybe black Sketcher shoes, a long sleeved white shirt with a black leather vest with an emblem on it that said Live to Ride…  I almost forgot about your black cap. I decided to tell you how nice your looked, so I walked up to you and told you and acknowledged that you looked really sharp….I don’t know if you heard me or not and your only response was to drool and your sister, friend, caregiver wiped your chin and said  “yes, you do look good”…You touched my heart today and even now I weep for you and I really don’t know what your life is like,  maybe it is a world of silence or a place of contentment and happiness or away in your very own thoughts.. If I could express to you how very special you are, despite what challenges you experience..I would do so. The way I saw you tells me that you are very much loved and cared for. I saw that in your appearance…  I believe that in your heart, you know and it makes you feel safe…..and secure…

Today I had a couple of experiences that moved my heart.. The first was my observation of a special needs young man..He stood out with a genuine sweetness and for some reason I am moved to tears as I think about him.. In previous years I had been a teachers aide and worked with children, so my heart is tender towards the ones I see with challenges..On our way home from this mountainous community we were slowed down to what looked like an accident of some sort. As we drove past there was a body covered up with a sheet on the  left hand side of the road. On the other side there was a couple, the woman was crying…We had no idea what had happened and went on our way. My husband found out from a neighbor just a short time ago  that a woman had been hit while she was jogging.. A family lost a loved one today.

For You…

Everyday lives are lost due to accidents, illness, murder etc… After these encounters it reminds me of how important it is to let our loved ones know that they are loved,as none of us is guaranteed another tomorrow. Let someone know how special they are…

  1. This is so true-too often tragedy happens and in a flash life as we know it is gone and we are never able to say how much we love or appreciate one another. Thanks for telling these very touching stories. My heart aches every time I see the things you have described. May we each remember to tell each other how much they mean to us–you mean the world to me!
